One to forget…..

Following the outstanding exploits of the previous weekend, the Originals slipped to defeat at Chesterton in the league on Saturday. With players still unavailable, notably Gregory, who had to go and get his name sown into his school uniform ;-), as per recent weeks Marsh lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a gloomy day.

The boys found the going tough and wickets came regularly, with the only small highlight a cameo of 15 from Jules, including a 6, as Gibbon were dismissed for 65. Struggling to write a lot more on it……sorry boys……other than the fact the Needham now has a broom fetish!

Despite the scoreline, Gibbon’s customary spirit remained high despite the hosts knocking off the runs with relative ease, with one wicket down as Matt had the opener caught behind. Stevie T bowled well off his 8 overs, going for only 7 runs. As ever, the work ethic for the team remained strong throughout the day, as Gibbon battled all the way.

A fantastic run of 7 wins prior to this has seen the boys lifted high up the table and the Telegraph Cup in the bag, so it’s been a fabulous effort by all so far as Gibbon look forward to two home games to wrap up a very successful league campaign with the usual end of season celebrations to come.

Look forward to Saturdays home game chaps, where we have a team photo for the entire squad prior to the game.
